Woodstock '99 was a music festival held in Rome, NY from July 22-25, 1999. Covered by MTV and run on pay per view, it was the second large-scale festival that attempted to emulate the original Woodstock Festival in 1969. Over the course of four days, 400,000 attendees gathered to see artists like DMX, The Offspring, Live, Sheryl Crow, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Red Hot Chili Peppers and our beloved Metallica who headlined the East Stage on night 2. The festival was plagued with issues from the heat, lack of showers and toilets and high water prices to outright vandalism, theft and sexual assault. The film Woodstock '99: Peace, Love and Rage (2021) is a documentary looking back on the festival and attempting to explain the circumstances that led to the ultimate failure of the festival. On this episode, Clint and Ethan talk about the documentary and Woodstock '99 in general.
