Hi! Introducing the 78nd episode of the OIZA RAVERS radio show. Hailing from North Africa, Riy ‎يَّا cut his teeth in the world of hip/hop and rap and was making beats and tracks as a teenager and performing locally as a rapper. Upon arriving in the U.S, he quickly found his way to the underground rave scene in NYC which solidified his love of electronic music and in particular techno. Soon after he started experimenting with Music Maker and Ableton and began his journey into music production. He has a broad range of tastes, and his tracks are infused with his native Algerian music (Raï music, desert drumming), “lo-fi” as well as borrowing from influences such as Thomas P. Heckmann and other techno icons. He is a self-taught audio engineer. As a DJ, he has played at Bossa Nova for Quest?onmarq’s “Spiraling” series and Techno Park (Trilogy NYC) and he shares the decks on occasion with his wife and dj partner (Esthetik Violation), as part of “DucttapeDjs” His productions run the gamut from techno, lo-fi, and ambient!
